Question
QUESTION: my cockatails are having intercoures and i was wondering how do you know if she is going to have babys and if she dont have a place to lay them will she die if she holds them in?

ANSWER: Hello,
A cockatiel will lay eggs when it is ready. If your cockatiel has a nest or not, it will still lay the eggs. There is no such thing as a cockatiel holding in eggs, unless she is egg bound. It takes about 10 days after mating for a cockatiel to lay eggs.

-Hope this helps

QUESTION: wow only 10 days! how long will it take for them to hatch? the female that i have was a baby from my mothers birds but her birds wouldnt sit on them them so she had to heat them in a incuebater.

Answer
The eggs take roughly 19-21 days to hatch after being laid, and a female will lay an egg every 24-48 hours.

Please be aware that same sex birds will perform copulatory behavior and that not all mating leads to the laying of fertile eggs. Females will lay unfertilized eggs, even with the absence of males.
