Question
Hi Carly, I have four pairs of ringnecks, Two pairs are laying but one of the pairs have abandoned the eggs soon after laying the second one. Do you know why? I am wondering if they don't like what i gave them to lay in. I gave them an old chicken feed container which is deep somewhat. I await your reply

Answer
Hello,
Some Ringneck Doves will choose to raise a family or not. Ringneck Doves will lay 1-2 eggs 10 days after each mating. They do this twice a month. Your doves may refuse to sit on the eggs maybe because, 1 they may never hatch, or 2 they are just not ready to raise a family, or maybe too old to raise a family. The reasons for this varies.

Just keep doing what your doing with this pair. Are the eggs they are laying fertile by any change? 2 days after each egg is layed, put the egg on the top part of a flashlight and see if you can see veins; a baby growing inside. If the eggs are not fertile, then just maybe, the pair is too old to raise a family.

Hope this helps! :)
