Raven troubles

Question
A pair of very large Ravens are defending their new nest/territory by dive- bombing Squirrels on our property. Am very concerned for safety of our family as well as our dogs (2 of them being very small Chihuahua's), the Ravens get very close and squawk. Is there anything we can do to prevent attacks from happening?

Answer
I don't think there is anything to worry about. I have worked with birds for almost 50 years and I have never been touched by a bird (except when I grabbed them first!)They will not hurt the dogs and certainly not humans. They are just being defensive. After nesting is over they will leave.
You have probably heard rumors about hawks or owls taking small dogs or cats or whatever. I have yet to see any real evidence that that has ever happened, and I've looked. Ravens are big but they are not going to hurt you or your dogs.
