Hi, I'm Nicky. I have a science fair project for 7th grade and I have to dye the bird feed (the sunflower seeds). I was just wondering if that will hurt the birds.     ~Thanks!

Most wooden bird toys are died with food coloring and since the birds tend to chew there toys this is why food coloring is used because it is bird friendly.

Tecnicly you can die the seeds but I my self wouldnt because even thou there toys may be dyed with food coloring it doesnt mean there eating the food coloring everytime they want something to eat, so I perosnly cant tell you if eating dyed seed daily would be healthy for them, may I ask why you must dye the seeds?
