Question
i have 2 ring neck doves but ive only had them about 3 weeks.  they have laid an egg.  this is so cool but i dont know what their needs are.  what should i give them to feed the baby when it hatches?  also are there any other special needs?  please help.  thanks,  karinda

Answer
Hello Karinda and thank you for your questions, Oh and congrats on your new doves.

Fiorst if the birds are indeed a male/femalke pair and they are sitting on the egg it will likely hatghc. Sometime two female birds will lay eggs but of course they will not hathc. A nesting basket is reccomended for doves but it must be sucrely fixed to teh cage wire or even sat on the *warm cage floor) it should be 6/8 inches around at lest. Just offer normal dove seeds/pellets and fresh fruit and vegetables during nesting time. And be sure they have access to a cuttle bone at all times so the female will be able to make nice thick healthy eggs and wont become ill. Good luck,

Tara.
