Breeding Finches

Do Zeebra finches need a soeacial diet while they have new born babys if so what should i feed them?

Hello Jeff and thank you for your question,

I reccomend feeding the regular diet but be sure they have a cuttle bone to peak at or the female will have problems laying her eggs or the egg shells wont be hard enough to hatch. A daily diet reccomended for finches is:

50% seeds 25% pellets and 25% fresh vegetables and fruits whatever you do don't forget to guive them there veggies when there feeding babies as too much hard food in the crops of the babies may cause in inpaction which would lead to death shortly after. I also reccomend feeding nesting food to the parent birds during this time.
