I read in one of your answers to a question that you had a friend foal out at 24, was the mare maiden?

Hi Allie,

No, the 24 year old mare was not a maiden.  She had had previous foals in her lifetime but it had been quite some time since she'd had one.

The oldest maiden mare that I have ever bred was 18 years old.  On her first pregnancy, she conceived twins and lost both.  Her owner brought her back for a re-breed the following year and she successfully carried one foal to term.
