Questionhello
my mare has never been breed.. but when she is in heat she can be very mean.. she pins her ears and could bit but when she is not in heat she is so lovable and easy to work.she is only 3 but we have a friend that has a nice stud. she has told us she would be better to work with after being breed is it ok to breed at 3. she is in great shape. but i have been told it will stop her growth. is that true? thank you Nicole
AnswerHi Nicole,
Breeding your mare at three will not stunt her growth. Just make sure that she is in top condition. It may not change her behavior though as she will still have hormones flooding through her. If you do not want to breed her, then you can have the vet insert a marble in her uterus.
