Mare miscarry

We had our mare checked at 2 1/2 months and the vet said she was definitely in foal.  We just had her checked again, at 6 months, and no foal.  The vet couldn't give me a good answer as to why this happened.  Just curious what some of the causes are.  Nothing traumatic has happened to her and she has foaled twice before with no problems.

There are many different reasons for miscarriage,dusty hay,colic,stress from another animal. It could have been a false pregnancy,their body responds and acts like they are in foal,but really it is just hormones.Sometimes miscarriages just happen.Something could not have formed right with the foal and it was her bodies response to end it.
