Question

This is Katie.
I have a 11 year old paint that I want to breed. I have all the papers on her and pics available also.  She is a buckskin paint.  We are trying to get a black and white paint out of her.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi James,
You have a 50/50 chance of your mare having a black and white paint foal. The other color that she ccould have would be pure black. If the sire is homozygous for black and white, then that increases your chances. You can get your mare tested to see if she carries the black and white gene.

Good luck.
