Question
I have a QH mare that if built very stocky, 15.3 and about 1300lbs or so.  I am a large man so I love her build but would like to get a gaited horse.  What would the liklehood be of having a gaited foal if I bred her to a Reg. TN WAlker stallion? Also, if the Stallion is colored, Black / White what is the liklehood of having color in the foal?
Thanks

Answer
Hi-It depends on if the foal takes after the stallion-We have had about 75% sucess with breeding like this and getting gait . We have a stallion for sale on our site http://www.whiteoakboergoats.net on our horses for sale page that is half tennesee and he came out with his sires color who is a black and white paint QH. he has his moms gait and height. She was a dark bay. the color depends on if the stallion is homozygous to throw the color gene-If you could research his past foals to see what he was bred to and what he produced it would give you a clearer idea of your chances.Good luck with your breeding! Let me know if I can help anymore-thanks for your question!
