Question
hi we recently rescued a mare and her 2yr old colt but we have found out she is pregnant and as far as we can figure out it is by her own colt could you let us know what implications this may cause if any? we have since separated them and her colt is on a separate yard miles away! will the mare be ok and will the foal be ok? or could there be any deformity?

Answer
hi- as to your question- there possibly can be a deformity- the foal could be blind, crazy or perfectly fine- you will not be able to tell until it is born, and observe it- I have seen inbred foals come out to be some of the nicest horses, but they sometimes can be infertile when mature. I wish you good luck with this as only time will tell-Thanks and good luck!!
