can a mare not be pregnant and still have milk?

hi,
I rescued a mare yesterday. shes a small frail girl and has no belly. but has milk. she was around two horses in may 2009 a couple of months after they where both cut. she doesn't look prego but her bag has milk. it's more clear then white. shes not bothered by my touching her teats at all. if she is pregnant why would she have milk this early in her pregnancy? thanks, Dayna

Hi- It could be a hormonal issue or she may have mastitis,or a falso pregnancy. The best way to find out what ails this poor girl is to let a vet look at her-She may be pregnant, or just weaned a foal-is there any way you can find out more about her? I hope this helps!@!! heather
