Question
I have a lovely 3 day old mainl thoroughbred colt who looks as if he might be bright bay like his mother.  His father was dark bay. How soon will I know which colour he will end up?  Also he has a striped tail - white on the outsides and underneath and balckish down the middle. Is this just foal colouring?  He is sooooo smart!

Answer
Hi Kath,
             Congrats on you foal.

These are your color probabilitys. You have an 83% chance that the horse will be a dark bay. A 13% chance that he will be red. There is a 3% chance that the foal will have the black gene.

The tail will be it's normal coloring.
