Question
My mare should be about 3 months along.  when she start showing?  last year she ended up open after we thought she was bred and now I am worried she may have slipped the foal again.  Other than running her to the vet when should she start showing?

Answer
Hi Chris,
While the vet is the best way to tell if she is in foal, you can also see if she comes into heat each month. There are also some blood tests and urine tests that can tell if she is in foal. Most mares do not start to show that they are in foal until the 6th-7th month. This is because the foal is only the size of a Beagle at this time.
