hey i bred my mare last year in like june-july but i dont really know if shes pregnant. I felt her up to see if i could tell her belly moved a little but i coulnt really telll if she was breathing or if it was grumbling. The base of her boobs are hard n like feel like muscle n when i touch them she get antsy.

Hi Megan,

If your mare was bred last June-July, there should be no doubt by now whether or not she is pregnant.

If she were this far along into a pregnancy, she would look pregnant and foal movement would be quite obvious.  At this point, her whole belly would be moving when the foal moves and there would be no mistaking it for breathing or grumbling.

Try feeling her belly again when she is eating or drinking.  The best time to feel for movement is when the mare is standing still and occupied with doing something.  But, if her belly isn't any bigger than normal, then it would probably be safe to say that she is not pregnant.  She should definitely be wider than normal if she is due within the next month or so.

Of course, your next option would be to have a vet palpate her to see if she is pregnant.
