Question
hello i have a beautifully NSH mare that is due to foal in june she is a tri-colored(bay,black and white) pinto and the stud is a white arab stallion what are the chances of me getting a bay? what colors could i get?

Answer
Hi Isaac,

More than likely the "white" Arab that your mare is bred to is actually a gray... meaning that he was born a base color and then turned white with age as there are rarely Arabs that are born white.

Without knowing what the stallion's base color is, it is impossible to tell you what color of foal you may get.

You mare is actually considered a bay...period.  Not a bay, black and white... she has the white because of the pinto markings, but if she were not a pinto, she would look like any other bay horse.

I can tell you that a bay is actually a black horse with Agouti.
"Agouti" means that the black has been limited to just the points of the horse (the mane, tail, ears and lower legs).

So, we know that your mare carries the black gene with Agouti.  But she may also be carrying a red gene, but it is masked by the black.

You would need to know the colors of your mare's parents and the base color of the stallion in order to give a percentage of what color the foal could be.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help at this time,
Sandy
