QuestionHi we just rescued a POA mare. I'm wondering if she may be pregnant. The edema? in front of her teats is quite swollen.
I read it could be a sign of pregnancy. if so how far along would she be if this part of her anatomy is swollen?
Thanks
Jen
AnswerThis can be true in some cases, However I have seen Fat horses stay "swollen" looking in front of their teats.I have a mini like that. Is she fat or is she poor?. If she could use some weight, this could be a sign of pregnancy, but the only way to really tell is to have her vet checked. If her teats arent filling or her hips arent sinking-then if she is pregnant-she still has a way to go.I hope this helps. thanks for your question.
