mini mare possibly pregnant

Question
I purchased a mini mare last september. I was told she was almost 2. The vet told me in February that the mini was no less than three years old. I just bred here 40 days ago to a stud and she accepted. I also just did a weefoal38 test on her today that showed a faint positive line. I noticed a week or so ago that her teats were puffy tonight I noticed that they are fuller and actually have a clear fluid leaking from them.  I know the lady I got her from had a young stud at the timebut she is almost positive they did not breed. however that would put her at the latest at 10 months. I honestly dont know what to think about all this any ideas???

Answer
Dear Debra

Horses hormones can do odd things.  Rather than guessing all the possibilities, I'd get this mare looked at by a good equine reproduction vet.  Some mares will accept a stallion when they are already in foal.  Some mares can leak fluid from their teats when they aren't in foal.  Rather than speculating or guessing, I'd get my vet to run some tests on her.

Good luck.
