Question
QUESTION: I have a mare that miscarried in june after 2 months of being covered. she was in the pasture with the stud and the other mares. I didn't believe that she would breed back so soon but she is almost as far along in foal development as the other mares. My question is since I wasn't watching her as closely as the other mares for breeding dates, how long is the time period between miscarry and the time they can be rebred?

ANSWER: I usually like to wait 12 months. It really should be left up to a vet that knows the horse. She should be checked out for soundness before breeding again. Just my opinion. Take the vet's advice. Best of luck with the breeding.

QUESTION: Can you read my question again and answer the question? Please? its either immediately, or about 20days til her next cycle starts.

Answer
I am so sorry. I did misread it.  Keep in mind, all horses are different and their cycles are not always perfect. They do not always start up immediately, or within 20 days. Some miss cycles and go a couple of months. When I diccussed waiting a year, that is my program. You really have to watch for their cycles to know when they are in. Some breed back right away, others do not. Are you sure she miscarried? Sometimes it is hard to see the foal even with ultrasound. Sometimes They hide!!!
