QuestionHow old is too old for a horse to have her first foal? I know they can have a fola at any age, but what age would you say is too great of a risk to have the first foal??
AnswerI am not sure there is an age too old if the mare is healthy. 9 or 10 is a great age because the mares are usually calmed down and less feisty. I would not go past 12 or 13 I think For the best qualified answer, have your vet check her out and give his opinion..and folow his advice. I rely on my vet for everything like this as he has more experience and is truly qualified. Good luck. Brian
