breeding an older mare

Question
hi my name is katie and i live in wisconsin. i have a 23 year old half arab mare that i'd like to breed. her last foal was when she was 20 and she did an excellent job. i've only had her for 2 years and she was a broodmare before that. she's very healthy and is quite a handful! i.e. she still acts like she's about 5 when i ride her (maybe that's just the arabian in her. her other half is saddlebred) i was just wondering what your opinion was about breeding her. i'd really like to keep her lines going, since i love her so much i want to have a baby of hers =] Thanks for taking the time to read my question!

Answer
Hi Katie,
As long as she is healthy, she should have no problem having one more foal. Have the Vet check her out prior for any health or reproductive problems. Get her teeth done at this time When she is in foal, you will want to keep a closer eye on her weight as she can loose weight quicker then a younger mare. But other then that you should have no issues.

Lisa.
