Question
I have a yearling filly and a 2 year old stud colt. I know they sexually mature at 18-24 months of age. She shows allot of interest in the stud colt (like the older mares do). Is it possible she could be bred if they are put together? Should they be kept apart until he is gelded?

Answer
Hi Carlotta,
Yes, it is very possible that your colt can breed your mare. Right now I am dealing with a two year old that was bred by another yearling by mistake. You should separate them until your colt has been gelded at least for 2 months.
