Breading Arabian mares.

Question
Hi Heather.
I'm buying two Arabian mares.
In the past I had a bad experience with an old 21 Y/O mare. I  never new her breading history so by the time I bought her I wasn't  quite sure of the outcome. She had an excellent  pedigree so I decided to take the chance. I never got anything from her except for very expensive bills...
Now I'm going for it again hopping that this time things would turn out better for me.
They are mother and daughter. 17 Y/O and 8 Y/O respectively.
The mother has been breed three times in her life, being the last one her daughter in the year 2000. Her daughter, on the other hand, has never been bred.
What chances do I have to get a few foals out of them?
Do you think it's a good idea to get both for breeding purposes since I know what the mother produces? Or is she too old for that?
Both are pure Polish which is what I'm looking for as foundation broodmares.
The price is affordable for me at this point and their pedigrees are pretty  good.
Can you give me some advice on thing that I should consider before buying them? Is there any problem I could encounter along the way that I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance for your response.
Hoping to hear from you.
Best regards.
George.

Answer
I think that both of these mares would be fine to breed as long as they are in good shape. We have also had problems with arabians, but only older ones like 20 and above. I think that you should be able to get a few off of the older mare if she keeps her weight up after the first foal. arabians can get poor at nothing after foaling. The younger one should be fine for many years. Thanks for your question. I hope this helps!!! heather
