Question
I have recently purchased a conamara type mare, she is 18 years old before i had her she was ridden regular by a young girl who owned her for 2 years Prior to that she was used in a pony club(riding school) in France.I was going to buy a youngster but this mare is lovely and seems healthy. She is 14.1hh my friend has a beutiful 15 hands paint horse stallion and he produces lovely natured coloured foals he is 15hh.I dont know if she has had a foal in her past.Is she too old to breed from she only has a shetland companion with her so shes not likely to get kicked or chased around whilst in foal. .Kind Regards Sharon.

Answer
Hi Sharon,
If she has been bred before then no, she is not too old. If she has not then the answer is yes she is. Have the Vet examine her and do a full reproductive exam. He/she will be able to tell you if she has foaled before.
