african house snake

I just bought my first snake, he is an brown african house snake. I researched all about him before I got him but I am very inexperienced when it comes to handling him. He makes this sound, that to me sounds like a sneeze and i was wondering what it is. I haven't heard him hiss so I thought maybe that is what it was.

The sound you are hearing is a hiss.  Every snake makes a different noise.  Don't be alarmed.  Just be very slow and gentle when handling him. In time, he will calm down nicely and won't make that noise anymore.  Good luck and congrats!  :-)
