constipated uromastyx

Question
Hi I have a male uromastyx about 5 years old, he hasn't eaten in 2/3 days and his belly is very swollen and he is falling upside down.  Brought him to the vet and he said he is constipated, and to help place him in tomato soup and warm water 4-5 times a day and let him soak and the nutrients from the soup will be absorbed into him and help him go as well as being in the warm water.  I have been doing this for 2 1/2 days and still no bowel movement.  Any ideas of what else I can do, he wont eat so I cant give him pumpkin, fiber or olive oil.  I would appreciate any suggestions, thanks Donna

Answer
Hello Donna,

WOW, I have never heard of that before, I mean, soaking in tomato soup.  I don't think that is right.
Did he do an x-ray or blood test on him?
What type & brand of UVB are you using, a flourescent tube bulb or a compact or coil?  How old is the UVB light?  What type of basking light are you using?
What are the temps currently & how do you measure the temps?
Do you supplement calcium, & if so how often?
If he keeps falling upside down, then he is losing his balance most likely due to improper UVB lighting, or not enough calcium, or both.  Swelling & or bloating can be indicative of metabolic bone disease in early or middle stages.  How long has this been going on for?  Low calcium will cause constipation due to the GI tract not being able to worth correctly.
What type of diet do you feed him?  You will need to get some needleless syringes to try & get some food & fluids into him.
Can you feel any lumps or anything in his belly?
Please let me know how he is doing.
