Question
HELLO RYAN MY DAUGHTER HAS  2 GUINEA PIGS . ONE OF THEM IS OF SHORTER HAIR , REAL FAT AND CUTE , THE OTHER IS REAL HAIRY , NOT AS FAT BUT OF COURSE JUST AS CUTE . WE HAVE RECENTLY MOVED FROM NJ, TO FLA, I HAD TO PUT THEM IN A DOG CARRIER , BIG OF COURSE AND THEY HAVE ALL THEY NEED .
THE BIG HAS BEEN FIGHTING WITH THE SMALLER ONE , IS IT BECAUSE OF THE SMALLER SPACE ? ALSO MY LIITLE ONE I FIND IS BLEEDING VAGINALY. DO FEMALE GUINEA PIGS GET A PERIOD ?  THANKS FOR YOUR TIME IN ANSWERIN MY QUESTIONS .

RUTHIE

Answer
Hello Ruthie and thanks for the questions.

The female GP does not have a noticible discharge. If your female is bleeding excessively, see a vet immeadiately. IF she is "spotting" she may be pregnant or have recently mated with the male (this would be one cause for the new found aggessive behavior).

As for the fighting, I would she the smaller space coupled with the stress of moving (car rides and such) would be a good explanation.

If things do not go back to the status quo when you get back to normal I would say she was pregnant. Females will sometimes get agressive with males when they are pregnant and should be seperated from them if it gets too bad.

Thanks again and I hope this can be some help,
Ryan
