Pregnant Piggy... I think

Question
Hey, i think my guinea pig is pregnant i got her about 2 weeks ago the store said she was only 6 weeks old when i got her (i find that hard to believe though since they cant leave their mother until 4 weeks old and shes almost giving birth) and her stomach is already forming the pear shape and i felt her stomach tonight (not hard) and it was moving (like a guinea pig baby kicking) i was just wondering how old she REALLY might be because i read they start getting the "pear" shape around the last 2 weeks of pregnancy. Also the middle of her stomach is hard is this a dead guinea pig or is it just squished and having trouble moving? i think i felt it kick too a little bit. The hardness going down to about her nipples and there is a lump like a head how far is she away from giving birth?

I also have her in the living room with lots of people around all the time should i bring her in my room and let her have peace and quiet or should i just leave her in the living room so she doesn't get stressed when i pick the cage up?

Sorry this is so long i still have a couple more questions.

What do i do if the mother rejects the baby?

I have 2 female guinea pigs 1 pregnant 1 not and i separated them about... 2-3 days AFTER i brought them home the pregnant one was biting the other one (probably protecting her babies). is it okay to put her back in the same cage with the mommy and babies incase there is any baby male guinea pigs i have to put in a seperate cage after 4 weeks or should i just leave them seperated because "mommy" might get protective of the babies?

Also, i only have 2 cages and i dont have like 40$ to spend on a new cage for the male babies (if there is any) what can i use to put them in?

Thanks for your help

Answer
Hi Kim

She definitly sounds pregnant to me

I really beleive you when you say that you dont think she was 6 weeks when you got her.
If she was young when you got her then maybe 14-16 weeks 4 months

If so she should be ok
If the noise is stressing the guinea pig out then take her into your room or somewhere quiet otherwise she should be fine in the living room.

If the mum rejects the babies then you will have to foster them
The mums normally do a good job so i wouldnt worry to much

I have only ever had to foster 2 litter out of lots that i have had

I would leave them seperate mummys wont privacy for there babies

a really good option is to go to a cheap shop and buy one or maybe even if you have a glass fishtank only keep it in there for a few days and then sell it

Hope this has helped and if you have any more questions then feel free to ask im here to help

Good Luck
