Question
Hi Andy,
I have a female guinea (Loulelou) who I love very much however my husband said he thought she was lonely and needed a companion so we went to a chain pet store and requested another female piggy to join LouLeLou,she really did not care for her new sister Lacey 6 weeks ago when we brought her home and now my poor LouLeLOu is big is a house and looks like she is expecting, but they look alike down there how do you tell the difference and shouldn't the pet store know?anyway how can you tell if they are expecting and what to do if they are having babies?can you help me out her PLEASE!

Answer
Hi Michelle

If you gently press the lower tummy area of lacey then a little penis will pop out if she is a boy.

The best way to tell if loulelou is pregnant is by weighing her regularly. However, if she is more than 9 months old and is pregnant she will be unable to give birth without vetinary assistance as by this age her pelvic bones may have fused together.

Let me know how this changes things.

Andy
