Question
My son has had his dwarf hampster for a little over a year now and about a month ago we noticed that the was a bubble growing out from the middle of his chest it started out the size of a small pea but it keeps growing now it's almost the size of a quarter and a purple/red color. Could you tell me what it is, what caused it and what to do about it? I'm afraid of it popping. It does'nt seem to bother him, he still runs around and plays like it's nothing. Please help if you can !!!

Answer
hey
You might want to take him to the vet, it could be a tumour. sadly operations on dwarfs are too dangerous to do, so they probably won't remove it due to the danger of the anesthetic, but they might suggest something else you can do.
if they hamster is still healthy and happy it will be ok to let it carry on how it is, but if it gets too much worse you may want to think about putting him down, but theres nothing to say the hamster won't have a problem with the tumour getting too big and will lead a long life! check with your vet.
i hope this helps
