Question
Hi Kelly,

I have two questions
is it a good idea to have  a sam cage or crittertrail cage for two
hamsters?
i here that you could connect sam and crittertrail cages with
tubes and stuff,
but i have NO idea how to connect two cages together with the
tubes, it seems really hard!
hey is there a reason why my hammy is always making these
flips or just spinning around when its in its ball?
like for no reason he turns aroun on his belly to his back, its
kinda funny, maybe he learned a new trick!

Anyways thanks for your cooperation!

Susie

Answer
Hi Susie,

It depends on what kind of hamsters you have.  Do you have Syrian hamsters?  If you do, they can't be kept together, as they're solitary animals.  However, if you have Dwarf hamsters, they're very social and love to be kept in pairs.

I personally like Crittertrail cages better than S.A.M. cages because Crittertrail has plastic and wire, providing enough ventilation.  Many S.A.M. cages, on the other hand, are all plastic, and don't provide enough ventilation.  (If your S.A.M. cage is all plastic, try drilling very small, clean holes throughout the top of the cage.)

You can connect S.A.M. and Crittertrail cages together.  (You can also connect Habitrail with them.)  You have to be a little creative, though, and you'll need a few tubes.  Since both types of cages have plenty of openings, you should be able to connect the two cages with just a few tubes.

It sounds like your hamster is just having a lot of fun in his ball :)

Have a great day!

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
