Gerbil sudden weight gain

Hi Joanne,
I got 2 female gerbils 2 1/2 years ago and in the last two weeks one of them has gained alot of weight. she's almost twice as big as the other one. She's not as active as she used to be and sleeps alot more. Is this a sign that she is going to die? do you know what might be wrong with her?

unfortunately gerbils are not my field, tho it does sound like she might be pregnant, are u sure they are both female? check with a vet or ask an expert who is more familiar with gerbils.
