Peanuts in food pellets

Question
I just bought "Forti-Diet" cubes for my hamsters, and the 5th listed ingredient is ground peanuts. I read in a hamster book that peanuts (or something they contain) are toxic to hamsters in large quantities. Does this mean that this diet won't be good for them? It says on the package that it's formulated for hamsters...so I was confused by the contradicting information.

PS Thank you again for your advice last time (about Harriet). I did get them vitamin drops which seem to be great so far, and also the other day I stayed home and noticed that Harriet is very active during the middle part of the day...which might be why she seems less eager when I play with them at night.
PEACE! :)

Answer
hi katherine,

im glad to hear harriet is doing well. i dont think this ground peanut diet should be a problem, she will pick out the food she wants herself, my hamster food has penuts in them and she is just fine, i wouldnt read to much into this warning as some people go ott in hamster health, however if she does start to get ill, change the food immediately. my hamster gets up between 4pm and 6pm so this is completely normal.

just make sure she doesnt have peanuts all the time an she will be fine.

thank you for you question and letting me know how harriet got on, if theres anything else please do ask.

joanne :)
