Question
Hi - iv had my long haired syrian hamster for just over a month ad he always sleeps in his house everyday. On bonfire night i noticed he had gone down to the bottom of his cage and took all his nest bedding with him and was sleeping in the corner, i thought it was because he was scared by all the fireworks. But i noticed he is sleeping down there again today, but he has left all his bedding in his house still. Do you think there is something wrong or does he just fancy a change?

Answer
Hi Sarah,

More than likely, your hamster just wants a change, like you suggested.  Some hamsters actually frequently change where they sleep, whereas others sleep in the same place all their lives.  Just make sure the house he normally sleeps in is clean and has proper ventilation in it.  If it's stuffy, your hamster is probably trying to sleep in a place with more ventilation (since humidity, which can build up when ventilation is lacking, is dangerous for hamsters).

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask :)
