one large eye in hamster

Question
this morning we woke up to find my daughters hamster I think it is a teddy bear hamster short hair but fluffy and chubby. it had one eye normal and the other eye bulging out.  What may have happened and what can we do?

Sorry for the delay in replying, my computer wasn't working.

He has probably poked himself in the eye with something, and needs to be taken to the vet as soon as possible to stop the risk of infection. He should be able to tell you exactly what it is.
However, it may be life-threatening, so you must take him to the vet as soon as possible.
