Squished Hamster

Question
I tripped and fell onto my desk today holding my  hamster. She was slightly squished by my hand. Other than peeing, she seemed to have no adverse reaction. No shock and running around an eating right after. I know hamsters can squish themselves through small spaces so I don't think there is anything wrong with her but how can I be sure if she has any internal injuries? Are there any signs I can watch for?

Answer
hi christie,

well luckily i dont think you've done any real damage as your right, hamsters are acctually thin and small and can squeeze themselves through the smallest spaces.

the peeing was just a fright reaction, but keep an eye on her for the next couple of days, look for limping, not eating or drinking, being lethargic as she may go into shock.

so if she looks dazed, and is colder, with a rapid heartbeat, rub her very gently to get her circulation going, then keep her in a nice warm, dry, quiet place. she should recover in a day or two, but if she doesnt or has any other symptoms, see a vet.

thank you for your question, feel free to ask again and do let me know how you got on.
