Hamster Odd Noises

Question
We have a hamster thats older then 3 years.
Lately she has been making odd noises almost like sneezing and coughing. We are really worried about her. I know she is older then the "average life expectancy" but do you have any advice on what can be going on with her? Or any person I can contact by email for more helpful information would also be appreciated. Thank you so much!

Hello :-). I am so glad you have taken such good care of your hamster. Yes she is quite old and the odd noises and sneezing and coughing could be a chest infection. If you have been using ceder or pine bedding she could have a lung disease or infection. Ceder and pine have been known to cause that in small animals. The best advice I can give you is to take her to a vet. There is no medication to help with coughing and sneezing in hamsters that i've seen that you can just buy without going to a vet. All the medication i've found are just for diarrhea. The vet is the only and best advice I could give you. It may be a little expensive but well worth it to make the hamster get better and figure out what is truly going on.
