Question
I have a panda hamster who is chewing the second floor that is attached to a tube. It is made of plastic which came with the cage when i bought it. Do you know why she is doing this? I took out the plastic floor incase.            thank you, dolly

Answer
A hamster's teeth are constantly growing, so they seek out something nice to gnaw on to wear their teeth down. Plastic is a hamster favorite, much to every owners unhappiness. Plastic is hard, yet has some give, and the hamster has the satisfaction of tearing it up. You must provide your hamster something more appealing to chew on. Hard chew treats work well, I recommend Vitakraft Raviolos. Wood chews never seemed to tempt my hamsters quite like a hard food treat did.
