BBH biting

Question
Less than one week ago, I bought this male Black Bear Hamster for my 3 year old.  The hamster resides in her bedroom, so is subject to "normal" household noises and volumes.  My problem is that in the pet store, the hamster let us hold him and was very friendly.  Now he is completely changed.  He bites us as soon as our hand comes into the cage.  I've read the past questions and feel like we just need to spend time handling him to help tame him.  Would that be your suggestion or should I leave him alone?  If you tell me to handle him - please give me suggestions on how to do this without being bitten (he draws blood!).  I am committed to this little guy and appreciate your time and effort to help.

Answer
It sounds like he is just stressed out. He definatly needs some taming. But if he's a black bear, thats very unusual behavior. Black bear hamsters are bred for temperment. I would advise ways to tame him, but for a three year old, i would recomend exchanging him. good luck.
