gangrene?

Hey I have a wierd question.
I'm on my third hamster litter and one of my babys has fallen ill. A few days ago we noticed his testicle was swollen and blue. It looked like it might have been bit but it was so swollen we couldnt tell. It seemed to get better for a day, the swelling went down some and he didnt seem to be in pain. But today when i went to check on him his testicle was hard and swollen to what looked like full size, it was also green and black in places. I let him sit in about a centimeter of warm water for a few minutes but it didnt seem to do anything to help. He still walks around and eats and drinks but he sleeps a lot more now. We dont have the money to take him to the vet and theres none in my area that will see a hamster I was wondering if maybe you could help. We're all really worried about him. I can easily get a picture if ude like to see what it looks like. Thanks so much.
