Water spilling in the cage

Question
Hi there,
I just bought a hamster a couple of days ago and this may sound dumb but her water tube the rubber stopper came off during the night and water spilled on the outside of the cage as well as a little bit inside the cage, but I don't know when it happened (time). Should I be worried that she might get sick (wet tail)because at the pet shop they told me to keep her dry at all times which I've done until this incident. Also is there a specific water tube that we should use because I have the glass one but the water doesn't seem to come out as easily.(that's why it spilled,I must of loosened the stopper for easier flow)
I hope you can help me.
Thanks
Susan

Answer
Susan,
Hi. Well first off, congrats on the new hammie! I wouldn't worry about wet tail unless she was drenched and in a room that was super cold. Just keep an eye on her, but i've had hammies who went swimming in water dishes and they were fine. I would reccomend a plastic water tube. I'm not a big fan of the glass ones. Just make sure their is a metal ball and shaft attached to the water bottle. And even though it may look like the flow isn't all that great, your hammie probabally doesn't even notice. Hope that helped!
