hamster not eating drinking and wobbling when walking

QUESTION: i just got my hamster a day ago and its a male. regular hamster. He has an eyeinfection where one of his eyes are closed, and also he doesnt eat, drink, and also wobbles. I wipe his eye everytime it gets shut with warm water, but i dont know how to make him drink or eat. I would also like to know how to deal with the walking problem. He wobbles, and walks very slowly.

It sounds like your hamster is very sick.  I would strongly advise you to take him to the vet as soon as possible.  Until then, keep him comfortable by giving him plenty of extra bedding, and make sure his food and water are near.

QUESTION: would you think going to the vet would cost over $40+ because i dont hvae that much money right now

Hi Janice,

Vet prices vary widely, so you'll have to call beforehand to find out prices.  Most of the time, a vet charges much less for a hamster than he would charge for a cat or dog.  Also, many vets send out bills instead of having you pay right there.  You'll have to call to find out.  (For example, my vet here in rural AL would charge maybe $5 for the visit, then whatever the medications cost - and, since hamsters require lower doses of medications, that cost shouldn't be signficant.)
