y does my female hamster bite

i have to syrian dwarf hamsters 1 male and 1 female. i just recently got them the male i got about two days ago and the female about 4. the male is very cute friendly everything is good about him. o ya they r in differnt cages. the female is also very cute but not as friendly and kind of territorial. she recently changed her bed to where a tunnel ends and there is like a cap thing over it, i have no clue y. and she doesnt come out as often as she used to in her older bed. yesterday she was awake and playin on her wheel when i went to pick her up. she usually before would like try to scratch me with her little paws like a cat and i would ignore that and just pick her up. now she is gettiing more frightend and all i want to du i help her and she bit me. i was unhappy  but i dont know how to make her stop being evil. plz help me thank you very much.

        Try just laying your hand in the cage without trying to pick her up. This will get her used to your scent. Then she can recognize you more easily. Talk to her while your hand is in the cage. After you do this for awhile then try picking her up.
