gerbil feeding

hey!
i need to ask a question,can you feed gerbils any live garden food like washed woodlice or worms or anything?because i really want to feed them live food that i dont have to pay for and easy to get.if not,why carnt they eat these.

Hi Jordan,

Gerbils stomachs are not really used to digesting these foods and so it is not a good idea to feed them to them. It is also not somethingh they would consume in the wild. If you want to feed them things you can find for free, try a small amount of washed grass, and a washed dandelion is a nice treat!!!
