Answer
A hamster shouldn't need a water bath because they groom themselves, if your have hamster has a very foul odor and his behind looks very wet he's sick with diarrhea also known as wettail and should see a vet. If your hamster looks healthy over all and you feel you should give him a bath, get a bowl or shallow dish and fill it with some warm water. I'd buy some special shampoo for small animals and gently rub a little of the shampoo into your hamster and bathe him in the shallow dish. Make sure to get all of the soap off of his coat and when he's good and clean dry him with a blow dryer. Make sure the blow dryer is on the lowest setting and you get him completely dry before placing him back in the cage. They can catch a cold by staying wet for a long time.
