Defense Mechanism?

Question
SO I have noticed that when someone rapidly picks up my hamster or
messes with her, she gives off this weird odor. At first I thought she had
urinated but there was no wet spots. The odor is so strong and I was
just wondering if this was a defense mechanism or just a smelly hamster?
Lol...please let me know. I'd appreciate it.

    This happens when the female is in season (heat). There is a strong musky smell and there may also be a white discharge coming from her bottom. They will generally come into season every 3-5 days.
    Perfectly normal with female hamsters.
