we have a short haired hamster"April". she had a red bulding spot on her stomache,i belive she has chewed it off and now their is a hole in her belly that appears to be infected. what is this?

Hi Christina.. sorry to hear about your hamster.

It could have been a tumor, or it could have been an abcessed older wound.. it might also have been her scent gland.

You should take your hamster to a veterinarian for prompt treatment, as you say it appears to be infected, it will most likely not resolve itself on its own.
