Hi My gerbil Eddie he's around 3 years old and he usually keeps his eyes closed and he eats a little bit,he wobbles and he cold sometimes I don't what to do Please Help I'm REALLY Worried!!

Hi Paulina,

When gerbils reach old age they will naturally slow down, be a lot less active and eat less. The best things and the only things you can do to make him feel more comfortable is to make sure his food is in easy reach, as is his water. Keep him warm, so give him plenty of bedding and make sure his cage is somewhere warm, not in direct sunlight but not in a draft either!
To help him digest food more easily you may offer him baby food, the human sort, as this is really good for them, tastes nice and is easy to eat. I frequently use Cow and Gate Sunshine Bananna, the powdered version which i then mix with water to make a paste. You can offer this a couple of times a day if you wish!
