hamster bald patch

well one day i looked in my hamsters cage and i found a bald patch with no hair at all and pink not even one small 1 on his right side just behind his front arm and he is between 6 months and 1 year can you tell me what it is a.s.a.p because he was one of my first hamsters and its really scared me I'm really upset

    Hamsters around a year old will tend to lose hair from time to time and most of the time it will grow back.
    Hamsters younger than a year will also lose hair from time to time, generally because they may have scratched one spot too much or because they got caught on something in the cage.
    As long as he is not scratching excessively and you are using the right type of bedding, either aspen or a type like critter care, there is no need to worry.
